A lot of names have been thrown into this race for Dior's new creative director after Mr. Galliano - Riccardo Tisci, Tom Ford, Hedi Slimane, Olivier Theyskens, Nicholas Ghesquiere, Alber Elbaz, Haider Ackermann, Prabal Gurung, and Sarah Burton. The front runner by many sites would be Riccardo, although he's not my favorite. Also, I prefer to leave Nicholas, Alber and Sarah where they are. So, it's narrow down to be either Olivier, or Haider. Tell me who would you like to see replacing Galliano at Dior ???

WTF
Here is the first commercial of Magnum Ice Cream starring Rachel Bilson and Baptiste Giabiconi; directed by Karl Lagerfeld. I think this concept is old... If without Rachael's or Karl's names attached to this, no one would pay any attention to it. Judge for yourself...

Ab-duction
If Taylor Lautner alone is not enough reason to go see this movie, they're giving you the amazing Sigourney Weaver...I'm wondering whether they got the name of the movie from this ??

Live Happily
I came across this article on O magazine with the interview of Marsha M. Linehan, PhD, a professor of psychology at the University of Washington in Seattle. She points out that there are five responses to any given problem...
1. To solve the problem - either change the situation or leave it.
2. The second is to change how you feel about the problem.
3. Radically accepting and living with the unhappiness. You don't deny the pain of what's missing, but you learn to live with it.
4. Stay miserable
5. You can make things worse.
I hightlight # 3 because that's what she wants us to focus on. "We're not trying to make it okay or not okay. We're trying to accept it as fact, because that's a way to get unstuck. If you wanted children and you don't have them and you radically accept that, you can go out and build nurturing relationships with young people. I was meant by God to have 12 children, but that isn't what I got. I don't have a biological child, but in my life there's a child who's like my own. The failure to accept is the failure to replace. Because you won't accept that there's a hole in your life, you do nothing to fill the hole. Maybe you can never fill it all the way, but believe me, a hole three-quarters filled beats an empty hole."

Dilemma
Yesterday I heard a shocking news about someone I know who just married for a little bit over a year and her husband is cheating on her. She's not my close friend but I know her quite well. I'm not sure she's aware of the situation and accepts it or she has no clue. Deep down inside of me wanted to tell her but everyone around me seems to think I shouldn't. If I'm cheated on, I want my friends to tell me.
What would you do ? Or what should I do ?

Copy, right ??
Thailand is the country where people don't care much about copyright. I spot this Murakami-look-alike at a fundraising for flood victims in the southern part of Thailand and I doubt the organizer purchase the right from Mr. Murakami.

Time for a Change
Here comes again, my life is about to change again and it's a bit scary. Why? It's a human nature to be afraid of the 'change' but why are we ??? Here are 6 reasons according to Catherine Pratt.
1. Fear of the Unknown
2. Doubt Yourself
3. Isolate Yourself and Agonize Over Decisions
4. Forget That You Always Have Options
5. Focus on the External World
6. Handcuff Yourself to Stuff
"Having the confidence to take action in the face of fear not only provides you with a sense of control, ultimately it will also provide you with a life full of purpose and joy. And isn’t that really what we’re all trying to achieve?" Enough said...

More Cold...
Look like there will be 2 more days of the cold weather before changing to Summer. It's very strange for Thailand, especially Bangkok, to get this cold in March. Usually, the temperature is up to about 35 degree Celsius. It's strange but I don't complain one bit...

Just A Thought
According to Wikipedia, "a wedding reception is a party held after the completion of a marriage ceremony. It is held as hospitality for those who have attended the wedding, hence the name reception: the couple receives society, in the form of family and friends, for the first time as a married couple."
Since I moved back to Thailand in 2009, I've been to 3 wedding receptions - including one last night. They were all kind of the same concept meaning took place in a huge hotels' ballrooms, many guests were invited and many of those guests the brides and grooms might have met just once. By comparison; I'd been to many wedding ceremonies and receptions in the US, they were much more intimate - only close friends and families were invited. And usually the guests who attended the receptions came from the ceremonies, not just went straight to the parties.
If I ever have one of my own, I prefer the latter... that's all !
Clip of the Day
I think I like this version more than the original one...

Winter in March
The world is going crazy. First, heavy rain in Bangkok in March which usually is Summer and very hot and dry here. Now, the temperature drops to around 18 oC (64 oF)... that is how cold winter in Bangkok is. Don't get me wrong, I like cold weather but in the same time it's starting to freak me out !!!

Nostalgia
Today is the last day of my then-boyfriend-now-goodfriend's trip in Thailand. I'll make the most out of this day and try not to be sad. I miss San Francisco a lot and meeting him bring back the memory of the city and people I love. I have my reason why I'm still in Bangkok - for my career and my future. I believe in destiny but I also believe in creating your own life - it's like a ship that waits for the wind to blow and adjusts the sail according to the wind. I can't wait to see what the destiny has in store for me...

Paris Round Up
I've been too busy to comment on each show from Paris Fall/Winter 2011 Fashion Week. So, here are what I'd like to sum up of...
The Good
Celine - Can't have enough of Celine, needless to say more
Hermès - Christophe Lemaire shows us the reason why he was chosen as creative director.
The Bad
Balmain - Christophe Decarnin, please give us something new. This collection looks like a left over of the previous collection which looked like the left over from the collection before that.
The Ugly
Louis Vuitton - For the second season in a row, MJ delivered something that very very strange, and not in avant-garde way...

Same Script Different Casts
I found it's funny that these two editorials by Matthias Vriens-McGrath look very similar, just changed the models.
Above: From Stern magazine features Fernanda Tavares, Rodrigo Calazan, Maikel Castro, Lucas Arantes, Samuel Vieira and Diogo Rodrigues. Below: From S magazine features Sean Sullivan, Duke Dlouhy, Joel Rush, Greg Plitt, Steve Boyd and Ana Catharina.
My Wish List...
As soon as I saw this new iPad, my heart sank to the floor and I know he will be mine. It was love at first sight...
The Last Galliano's
Who would have thought this would be the last collection of Dior by John Galliano? I'm not sure it's a coincidence or not that this collection seems dull to me. The whole situation that happened to Mr. Galliano brought up the discussion between people who support him and people who are against him. I, personally, don't like to judge anyone until I know the whole truth. But if he needs help, please do so...because we don't want to lose a 'genius' from the world of fashion. SOURCE
