Against All Odds

During the world economy crisis, LVMH and Hermés are the only two luxury company which have gained their profit in year 2008. LVHM reported that its fourth-quarter sales increased 4% to 5.2 billion euros ($6.7 billion) and fiscal-year sales for Louis Vuitton products also climbed 4%, to 17.2 billion euros. In the meantimes, Hermés International's sales increased 8.6% to 1.76 billion euros ($2.3 billion). These profit gained are the result from the increasing sales in Asia market. LVMH fourth-quarter sales grew 13% in Asia apart from Japan, while U.S. sales fell 14% and sales in Japan fell 17%. Hermés sale in Asia also increased 25% in the fourth quarter of 2008.
