Jean Paul Gaultier is said to be resigning from 6-year run creative director of Hermès, his last collection will be in Paris this October. With Gaultier's help, Hermès' profit has rose despite the recession. In July, the company announced a 12% increase in second-quarter sales ($607.4 million at current exchange) in the 3 months ending June 30. Leather goods were up 33.4%; ready-to-wear and fashion increased by 12.7%.
It's heartbreaking to hear the news because I love the creations of Gaultier for Hermès. He made the collections look younger and more fun without losing the sophistication of the brand. Not to mention the countless reinterpretation of the iconic "Collier de Chien", "Kelly" and "Birkin."
