Trailer: MILK

" His life changed history, his courage changed lives. "

Academy Award nominee Gus Van Sant directs Academy Award winner Sean Penn as gay-rights icon Harvey Milk. Mr. Milk (1930-1978) was an activist and politician, and the first openly gay man to be elected to public office in America; in 1977, he was voted to the city supervisors' board of San Francisco. The following year, both he and the city's mayor George Moscone were shot to death by another city supervisor, Dan White. Mr. Milk was previously the subject of the Academy Award-winning documentary feature "The Times of Harvey Milk," but "Milk" is the first non-documentary feature to explore the man's life and career. In theaters nationwide November 26,2008.

Controversy in India

Vogue India’s August issue presented a 16-page vision of supple handbags, bejeweled clutches and status-symbol umbrellas, modeled by average Indian people, which nearly half of India’s population - about 456 million people - live on less than $1.25 a day. That's why not everyone in India think this is funny. Kanika Gahlaut, a columnist for the daily newspaper Mail Today, said the editorial spread was not just tacky but downright distasteful. SOURCE

Quote of the Day

" It’s possible that Lindsay Lohan is bisexual and doesn’t care who knows it. Society -- and a multibillion-dollar porn industry -- has long held the idea that a little girl-on-girl action is more palatable than two dudes sneaking around. That double standard is only magnified when it comes to high-profile names -- just imagine the fallout if Justin Timberlake were suddenly spotted snogging a “good friend” like Pharrell Williams, Ashton Kutcher, or Zac Efron. We’d never hear the end of it. "

- Nicholas Fonseca on Lindsay Lohan's relationship with Samantha Ronson in Advocate -

State of Emergency

I need to call home to find out the detail from my family. I hope everything will turn out OK without many casualties.

"Thailand's prime minister declared a state of emergency in the capital Bangkok on Tuesday after a week of political tension exploded into violent street clashes between supporters and opponents of the government that left one person dead. The right-wing "People's Alliance for Democracy" accuses Samak of being too close to ex-Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and of trying to change the constitution to help him avoid prosecution on corruption charges. Thaksin was ousted in a 2006 coup and recently fled to Britain to escape an array of corruption charges. The same group organized the massive anti-Thaksin demonstrations in 2006 that helped spark the bloodless coup. The prime minister has repeatedly insisted he will not bow to pressure by resigning or dissolving parliament to call new elections."

The last "state of emergency" in Bangkok was September 16,2006. I hope one day the politic in Thailand will be stable and there is no corruption. Did I ask too much ?
