LVMH sues EBAY

Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior Couture are suing eBay in separate actions that add up to $50 million dollars over allegations that the online auction is promoting counterfeiting by allowing those items to be sold on the site. Tiffany has already successfully sued eBay in the past. eBay currently requires sellers to verify that their products are legitimate but with so many transactions it is impossible to enforce. Its current policy places the obligation on brand owners rather than the auction site itself. LVMH has already successfully sued Google for similar allegations and was awarded 600,000 dollars.
