National Day Against Homophobia

Today, May 17, is the 4th edition of the National Day Against Homophobia. Its objective is to fight homophobia in the job world. The job world is not spared from homophobia. It is an extremely difficult environment for gays and lesbians, even if some environments may be more tolerant than others. As is often the case for other forms of discrimination, the workplace needs to make it a point to offer a homophobia-free environment.

V&R for H&M

VIKTOR & ROLF is the third high fashion collaboration with H&M. The cult Paris-based label will appear as a high street capsule collection for men and women in H&M stores across Europe, North America and the Middle East in November this year. The designer duo said "If Haute Couture is the most sublime form of fashion, H&M is fashion at its most democratic. Our roots are based in couture. It's the heart and soul of our work. But we also love to play with opposites: transformation is a key element of our signature style. For us, fashion is an antidote to reality. It's a great opportunity to communicate our vision with such a large audience of H&M devotee." Viktor & Rolf follows Karl Lagerfeld and Stella McCartney in creating a line for the high street giant.

25 years and still counting...

25 years ago, on June 5, 1981, a new mysterious disease killing homosexual men was first published report. This year the Stop AIDS Project teamed up with artists and local florists to create the floral display it installed to foster a renewed commitment to ending the spread of HIV. "Promise for the Future: Marking 25 Years of HIV/AIDS," the installation includes 90 paper irises hung from business awnings, large fabricated iris flowers that illuminate at night attached to 12 lamp posts along Castro Street between 18th and Market, and a 43-foot long fence at 18th and Castro streets decorated by the Ixia florist shop that will serve as a message board for people to attach notes about how they personally will commit to ending AIDS or where they can write the name of or a message to loved ones who have died of AIDS. Behind Balenciaga

He's often called a designer's designer and compared to Yves Saint Laurent in his ability to feel and shape fashion. As the creative director for the iconic house of Balenciaga, French-born Nicolas Ghesquiere, 35, has spent the past nine years shaping his own fashion vision as well as that of the greater global fashion business. His ability to wow the front-row crowd with a heady blend of street style and historical reverence is unparalleled. His signature silhouette of skinny pants and blouson jacket, a vestige of Ghesquiere's obsession with the '80s, is a virtual staple in fashion's contemporary market. His is that rarest combination of talents: untethered creativity plus commercial savvy.

The son of a golf-course manager in the small town of Loudon, France, he liked to sketch images from his mother's glossy magazines. By age 15, Ghesquiere had obtained an internship at agnes b. in Paris and at 21 was working for Jean Paul Gaultier. But his big break came in 1996 when the owners of the then unfashionable house of Balenciaga hired him to design a line of uniforms for a Japanese licensing partner. He was quickly promoted, and by 2000 his clothes were coveted by the likes of Chloe Sevigny, Nicole Kidman and the Olsen twins. Just like Cristobal Balenciaga, he has a relentless sense of innovation. He knows what you're going to want to wear before you do.

When we'll be next ?

Do you remember ? Not too long ago, in 1967, the United States Supreme Court declared Virginia's anti-miscegenation statute, the "Racial Integrity Act of 1924", unconstitutional, thereby ending all race-based legal restriction on marriage in the United States. I'm just hoping that one day "gay" will be able to get married in America. PAYOR has full report

Authorities at Oslo airport decided to remove "Flowerbomb", a fragrance by Viktor & Rolf from the shelves of its duty-free boutiques because they felt it resembled a hand grenade. Norwegian airport security rules forbid the sale of weapons or weapon look-alikes. Given the current environment it is best not to mention any bath bombs in your luggage when passing through.
