This summer, Visionaire will offer 10 complete sets of its first 50 issues in the Goyard trunks for $150,000. From its premiere issue in April 1991, Visionaire challenged notions of what it meant to be an art and fashion publication. The first edition was funded with $7,000 from editor Stephen Gan's savings and printed on mix of remnant paper. From there, the editors set out to make objects that people would cherish and keep, they became something of a barometer of "cool." Collectors will also be offered the option of buying empty trunks for $54,000 that they can customize.SOURCE
The androgynous theme is still going strong at Paris Menswear Spring 2009 collections. Take a look at kilts (skirts) over pants at John Galliano (above) and Comme des Garçons (below) runways.
In an extraordinary collaboration, Louis Vuitton, the ultimate French luxury brand, and Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons, the ultimate fashion rebel, will open a joint Tokyo store in September — an ephemeral three-month space where six one-off bags, designed by Kawakubo in LV monogram pattern, can be ordered by shoppers. Kawakubo described her designs as ‘party’ bags, promising multi-handles or two handles morphing into one. All will use the Monogram toile, with the LV initials, and the offerings will hark back to the styles of 30 years when Vuitton made only bags and leather goods.SOURCE
